Trekking in Cuba - Pasa A Paso

Departing on the following dates: Sunday 7 August 2011 and Sunday 16 October 2011.

Day 1: Arrival in Havana
Arrival at the Havana international airport. Transfer, accommodation and dinner at your hotel in Havana.

Day 2: Santa Clara
After breakfast the tour leaves for Sierra del Escambray. On the way there a visit at Santa Clara and the Mausoleum of Che Guevara and the Tren Blindado . After dinner at the hotel, we suggest a relaxing walk along the lake Lago Hanabanilla.

Day 3: Sierra de Jibacoa
After breakfast at the hotel, the tour starts with a boat-ride on the lake Hanabanilla all the way to the Sierra de Jibacoa. From here, the first hiking tour will start including a picnic break near the Salto de Rocio waterfalls. In the afternoon,the tour will arrive at Hacienda la Gallega where the camp will be set up and dinner enjoyed around the camp fire. Overnight in the tents.

Day 4: Finca Codina
After breakfast the next tour is to the Finca Codina a former coffee plantation. On the way, the tour will stop for a picnic lunch-break. Dinner and accommodation in the tents at the Finca Codina.

Day 5: Sierra del Escambray
Today's tour will take you through the southern part of the Sierra del Escambray all the way to Topes de Collantes. En route there will be a stop for lunch at Salto de Caburni. After lunch the tour continues on the Vegas Grande pathway. Dinner and accommodation at a hotel.

Day 6: Nature Sightseeing
After breakfast, you will be on board an old Russian lorry and travel towards the landscapes of La Cuerva de Juana. From here, you will continue to El Parque Cubano. In this area, you will have enough time to explore little pathways, and dip into the natural basins, common for this kind of habitat.Overnight in tents at La Hacienda El Cubanao.

Day 7: Playa Ancon
In the morning, our bus transport will take you to the pier of Playa Ancon located near Trinidad. There,you will board the boat to Cayo Iguana and Cayo Macho Afuera. Picnic lunch will be served on the boat. Once you arrive to your destination, you will have enough time for snorkelling and bathing, or just relaxing on the beach. In the evening after dinner, you can either spend the overnight on the deck of the boat, or in tents on the island.

Day 8: Trinidad
In the morning, we head back to Playa Ancon, and go on a city tour in Trinidad. We will stop for lunch in Trinidad, and in the afternoon you have some free time to plan the rest of the sightseeing tour at your own disposal, exploring this charming little town. In the evening, a transfer will take you to a hotel where you will have dinner and stay for an overnight.

Day 9: Havana
After breakfast at the hotel, the tour leaves for an excursion to the Valle de los Ingenios. There we shall visit the Manaca Iznaga ruin which used to be an old slaves tower, and learn a bit more about history of this region.The bus will pick you up and take you to Sancti Spiritus for lunch, and a short city tour. In the late afternoon you will be returning to Havana in time for dinner at your overnight accommodation.

Day 10: Departure from Havana
Today is the last hiking day, and you can enjoy it before the transfer takes you to Havana airport in time for your flight back home, or to your next hotel depending on your holiday arrangements.
